Sidewalk SONday School is built on weekly visitation to over 1,100 children ages 3-13 where we hand out bright colored flyers with a weekly Bible memory verse. Visitation is the time each child gets a personal invitation to Sidewalk SONday School. Just a day or two later we follow up with Sidewalk SONday School programs at multiple locations where a combined average of 700 children attend. Each weekly program is on the order of a high energy “children’s church” with motion-filled songs, games and a simple one-point Bible lesson. Each week the children are brought to a point of decision. The evangelistic focus of Sidewalk SONday School is to lead the children in our inner city to a life-changing encounter with the Lord and introduce them to a Biblical basis for decision-making. Our mission is to “transform our inner city by equipping and empowering its children to realize their potential and discover their God given destiny.”
Ministry Update:
- Planted a new Sidewalk Sonday School site @ Green Hills Apartments during Christmas.
- Continued with Nine (9) Sidewalk Sonday Schools each week (Tuesday through Friday) after school during the spring semester.
- Staff members personally visit 1,100 children each week, inviting them to Sonday School.
- Average attendance is close to 700 children weekly at the 9 combined sites.
- Received a grant from an individual to build a new Sidewalk Sonday School vehicle (our third).
- Now having weekly Discipleship meetings with our middle and high school youth (Junior Staff).
- Our goal is to help create a Christian worldview in the children and youth of our inner city . . . mobilizing the message of hope.
