Embassy, Washington, D.C.

Christian Embassy is a non-political ministry that
serves as a spiritual resource to diplomatic, government, and
military leaders in Washington. Our challenge is to help them
discover the relevance of God’s truth in their private and
professional lives. Kitty and I spend the majority of our time
building relationships with ambassadors, diplomats and their
families. How do we meet these busy people? Nearly once a month we
attend receptions in their embassies. We also host 3 to 4 large
events ourselves during the year. The following are examples from
this past year.
1. Two
Thanksgiving Dinners
where we shared our Christian heritage. These were hosted in the
homes of a Christian Congressman & a Christian Iranian doctor.
Wonderful relationships have developed from this event.
2. An
Ambassadors’ Wives Christmas Coffee
hosted by the Korean ambassador’s wife this year. A prominent
author/ psychologist spoke on the “Transforming Power of Hope”.
Many of the ladies were from other religions. Our hostess met with
an ambassador’s wife from Eurasia right after the coffee to answer
questions about the gospel.
3. The Washington Escape,
which is our retreat for government and military leaders as well as
ambassadors. This is a chance to get away from Washington and hear
refreshing messages from speakers like Dr. Chuck Swindoll.
4. A recent Ambassadors’ Luncheon
where a Congressman spoke on “Issues We Are Facing”. Each of the
35-ambassadors/senior diplomats who attended received Josh McDowell’s
More Than a Carpenter
and 7 asked for a Bible. From these initial contacts we invite these
men and women to join discussion groups where we discuss the
relevance of the Bible to their world.
